About the Artists
ArtNovell is comprised of mother-daughter team, Nancy Novell and Robyn Novell Riley. Nancy and Robyn have been involved in the arts for many years and continue to fulfill their passions as they create new, functional works of art. See where they have sold and exhibited their work in the past, and where you can find them next.
Nancy Novell, Potter
I began throwing pots in college. My husband, Bruce, first showed me how to throw pots at the Georgia Tech Crafts Center. Once I began throwing there was no stopping me (except for the years when I was working full time and raising two children!). So, the children are grown and I now have time to make pots once again. This is my creative outlet, my therapy and where I’m most productive at this point in my life. I strive to make the perfect coffee mug, and love making and using functional pottery. After a 30-year career as an arts administrator, I am now retired and happily making pots in my home studio.
In addition to making pottery, I enjoy hiking in the mountains (especially in NC!), traveling, gardening, reading, and most of all, spending time with my precious grandson!
Robyn Riley, Jewelry Designer
I have been making jewelry for over 15 years. After graduating from college, I moved back to Raleigh and really discovered my passion. I wanted to create a collection of unique earrings, something elegant and different from the things you find at the local holiday craft fairs.
For several years, my signature creation, Wrapped Pearls, were sold at The Little Art Gallery in the Village District (formerly Cameron Village) before it closed in 2019.
I enjoy creating versatile, sophisticated pieces that people can enjoy and appreciate everyday as well as for special occasions.
When I’m not making jewelry, I enjoy spending time with my husband and son, developing my side business, Station E Sweets, cheering for the NCSU women’s gymnastics team, and watching Harry Potter marathons.
